Florence from Middle Ages to Renaissance- regards the period from the 12th to the 16th centuries, focusing on the vital role of Florence in international trade, monetary system and rising banking system. Italian History- offers an overall view of Italian history from the national unity (1861) to the present day, placing emphasis on Fascism, the Second World War, the birth of the Republic and the economic growth of the country from an agricultural system to advanced industrialization. Social History from 1940 to 2000- Parallel to the Italian History course, encompasses anthropological and sociological aspects, such as the many regional differences and the profound transformation related to culture, family issues, consumers’ lifestyle, tastes and mentality — a profile of today’s Italy. Italy in the European Union- focuses on Italy’s European integration and the evolving Italian political system, as well as comparative studies between the Italian party system and its representatives in the European Parliament. Italian Literature- a pleasant way to enhance and broaden ones vocabulary, while reading and interpreting texts by outstanding Italian writers, from Dante Alighieri to present day authors. Contemporary Literature- works by internationally known Italian authors are read, pointing out the relationships between literature, theatre and cinema, along with the social and historical background of today’s Italy. This is a special internship programme that includes a preparatory language course, with an unpaid internship in a variety of fields. The programme includes: 4 weeks preparatory language course (minimum), followed by 8 weeks internship/work experience (minimum, which can be easily extended) In addition to excellent language tuition, the school and internship coordinator will assist in CV preparation and choosing an appropriate company based on prior work experience, interests and language ability, as well as support during the interview process.
