Which course level should I choose?

When taking a language course it is important to make sure it is available at your level and ability, otherwise you might not benefit from it as you would like. For this reason, we’ve listed a level and ability requirement for every course listed on our site. You may not be familiar with the terms we have used, so to help you estimate your current level please read the explanations below:

Please note - although it is important to estimate your level, it is just an estimate to help you choose your course better. You will be properly tested on or shortly before arriving at your school, and placed in a class with students of the same ability as you.

Absolute Beginner

• As the name suggests, you are an absolute beginner and have never formally studied the language.

Elementary

• As an elementary student, you will be able to use familiar everyday expressions, and introduce yourself and others using basic phrases and vocabulary.

Intermediate

• As an intermediate student you will be comfortable with using the language in common situations when travelling in a country where the language is spoken. You will be able to communicate with other people, and can describe your experiences and events happening around you.

Advanced

• You are very confident in the using the language, and would be able to talk freely with native speakers on a wide range of topics, without hesitating or searching for a phrase or expression.

Apartment Single - Single bed in a private room in an apartment

Apartment Twin - Single bed in twin room sharing in an apartment

Apartment Double - Double bed in private room in an apartment

Homestay Single - Single bed in private room in host family accommodation

Homestay Twin - Single bed in twin room sharing in host family accommodation

Homestay Double - Double bed in private room in host family accommodation

Residence Single - Single bed in a private room in residential accommodation

Residence Twin - Single bed in twin room sharing in residential accommodation

Residence Dorm - Single bed in dormitory room sharing in residential accommodation

What do half board and full board mean?

Bed & Breakfast - Bed and Breakfast only

Half Board - Breakfast and dinner from Monday to Friday, and all meals at the weekend.

Full Board - Breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. Lunch may be a packed lunch.

Self Catering - Self Catering accommodation.
