Eckersley Oxford is in the heart of the city among the beautiful buildings of the university of Oxford and the town's pedestrianised commercial area.
We have been teaching English for over 55 years now and we combine long experience with a very modern approach to training.

You will study in a General English class in the mornings and a special business class in the afternoon. The content of the course depends very much on what the students need, but focuses mostly on the following areas: business vocabulary (for example: marketing, finance, commerce) functional language for business situations (e.g. meetings) practising and role playing business situations understanding and writing business documents cultural differences and business etiquette discussion of business and political issues social English in a business context All of these will be looked at using a variety of different material and facilities. For example, you might use an interactive whiteboard to prepare and give a business presentation, guided by your teacher. You might read business articles from journals and newspapers, and discuss the issues raised, maybe comparing the situation in your different countries. You might visit businesses and meet local business people.

Special examination preparation classes take place in the afternoons. In the morning classes, you study and practise all aspects of English – reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, etc. – in order to improve your general level of English, and so help you pass the exam. The exam preparation classes (4 afternoons a week) are designed to improve your ability to perform in the exams, therefore the class will in part involve practice at answering the relevant exam questions. However, the lessons are flexible to suit the needs of the students and tackle any particular difficulties of each individiual skill and language area. What is more the class sizes are generally small allowing you to have plenty of individual attention and feedback from your teacher. The course will involve mock speaking tests which will be administered by a different member of the teaching staff. This will give you practice at interacting with different native speakers with different accents. Your performance in all practice tests will be used to identify areas of weakness which will help the teacher to design subsequent learning exercises. You will also have lessons in our state-of-the-art digital language lab which allows you to practise your speaking and listening using interactive media sources. We have a variety of software focusing on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and all the skills to make your learning more interesting.

You will have your own room and will have breakfast and supper each day with the family - and lunch too at weekends. The phrase 'Host Family' can mean a single person, a single parent, a couple with children or a retired couple. Our families live in residential areas of Oxford and you will probably come to School each day by bus. Buses from all parts of Oxford stop near the School. When we have reserved a room in a Host Family for you, we will send you their address and a brief description of the family. While you are here, our Accommodation Manager is always available to make sure that you are happy

I really enjoyed going to eckersley,is not just a school where learn english but is also an occasion to meet people with different nationalities and to visit the country because they have different planes of the day in each day.The teachers are nice and they help me so much with my difficulties in english.I'd like to go to eckersley next year but more than one week.
